The Team

Brian Stephens President & CEO

Responsibilities:

As CEO, Brian is responsible for project bidding, directing, and engaging T Com staff to plan and set goals to meet the needs of our customers.

Background:

Brian started his career in telecom with Bellsouth as a Facility Designer after graduating from Western Kentucky University. This path was influenced by the fact that his father has spent over 40 years in the industry. After eventually being promoted to Manager of Outside Plant Planning and Design with what had become AT&T, Brian was offered the Director of engineering position at a telephone cooperative in middle Tennessee. With a much larger role in a smaller company, the two years that followed allowed him to learn the technical and financial aspects of managing a telephone company. In 2010, T Com, LLC was formed by Brian and his wife Karen. The company started with one drop plow and has grown to what it is today through T Com’s constant commitment to integrity and quality work. Brian’s experience in the industry and reputation have allowed the steady and sustainable growth that T Com has realized and his mission for the company is to continue this growth while maintaining these same commitments.


Karen Stephens CFO, Managing Member

Responsibilities:

Karen processes tax returns, manages state licensing, and oversees the office manager's responsibilities. With Brian, she is involved in all executive business decisions.

Background:

Karen is a CPA with 25 years in public practice. In November, 2010, she and Brian created and organized T Com, LLC, a Women Business Enterprise (WBE), with Karen being the majority owner of the business.


Sam Clare Vice President of Operations

Responsibilities:

Sam oversees the day to day operations of T Com. With the help of his team, they ensure all facets of T Com operate smoothly, thus resulting in superior service for our customers.

Background:

Sam has a proven management history with over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining T Com, Sam held the OSP Operations Manager position for a long-haul provider overseeing fiber plant that spanned 14 states, with responsibility for all engineering and maintenance activities. He led a large Disaster Response Team from the field through fiber cuts, storm damage and natural disasters to ensure timely network restoration. Sam managed multimillion dollar operations and capital budgets for buildouts, maintenance and emergency restoration.

Prior to this, Sam held management positions that focused on engineering and OSP construction for FTTH, FTTB, FTTT. He also led the installation of ISP projects for multiple Tier 1 customers.

During his career Sam has gained a wealth of knowledge through classroom training and real world, hands on experience. He holds certifications for Fiber Optic Installation, Splicing and Testing, AC/DC Power Plants, MOPS, telecommunications grounding, Telessentials, and numerous others.


William Nyswonger Director of Construction

Responsibilities:

William oversees the construction and installation of fiber optic networks using multiple construction techniques. Daily field coordination and management ensure production meets the quality and schedule requirements of our customers.

Background:

William joined T Com in March, 2014. He has several years of experience in directional boring for telecommunications and natural gas pipeline industries, gaining much knowledge as he has advanced from laborer, to foreman, to construction manager during his career.


Karen Hunter Office Manager

Responsibilities:

Karen makes sure the business office runs smoothly, and manages accounting, payroll and other administrative functions in support of the company's operations.

Background:

Karen came to T Com in March, 2014. She has acquired over 30 years of administrative support and managerial experience, most recently in the construction industry.
